2004 Chardonnay
This wine was fully fermented and matured for one year in new and one year old French Allier oak barriques imported from the Mercier Cooperage in France who recently awarded Leabrook Estate "Best New World Chardonnay" using their oak. This complex wine will develop well, integrating the fresh fruit flavours with the rich creamy characters resulting from full malolactic treatment and frequent lees stirring. Balancing acidity and structure were achieved by using low yield grapes picked at optimum ripeness. This recently released wine follows on the style and tradition of the 03 Vintage that Halliday awarded 92 points and ****½ 4½ Stars.
The June 2006 Decanter Magazine voted the 2004 Chardonnay "Best New World White Wine".
