Cabernet Franc

2004 Cabernet Franc

Some scribes call Cabernet Franc "Poor Man's Cabernet Sauvignon". This is not the case for this variety grown in the Adelaide Hills when full ripeness has been achieved. The wine rich, mouth filling and fruit driven, not overpowered by oak and having mid palate fullness, a characteristic of the variety, and firm, fine tannins balancing the rich smoothness evident at this very early stage of its life. This latest release follows vintages that have consistently received Trophies and 4 to 5 Star ratings. Many restaurants class this as the epitome of the variety in Australia and it fares very well when pitted against the best that France has to offer.
